Maintenance is a condition based maintenance strategy in the reliability
centered maintenance approach, that precisely examines the state and
performance of a component or equipment during its normal operation, in order to minimize the chances
of failures. The primary aim of Predictive maintenance is to reduce the costs by decreasing the frequency of the various maintenance
tasks, limiting unplanned breakdown of the system, and thus eliminating
unnecessary preventive maintenance.

is the regularly performed maintenance on an equipment or component in order to
decrease the possibility of any failure. It ensures that all critical parts and
components of a system receive constant maintenance to avoid any unforeseen
breakdowns and costly repairs. For e.g. we do not wait until our car’s engine
fails to get the oil changed, we get it service regularly. This is preventive
maintenance is a set of tasks intended to detect or estimate failures of the
various components or devices to reduce the probability of a failure in the system.
