I am Tushar Gholap, and this is my statement of purpose, indicating my aspiration to pursue my career through Masters in Computational Mechanics of Materials and Structures. Computational mechanics is a revolutionary branch of mechanics and serves the interdisciplinary collaboration of engineering science, mathematics and computer science.

I am a bright student with a score of 91.45% in grade 10, 85.32% in diploma and 8.29 cgpa in bachelors in mechanical engineering. My passion lies in Science and Mathematics which drove my inner instincts to study Mechanical engineering. I am grateful to my so-far education in this field, to have exposed me to various specialties of mechanical engineering like Strength of materials, engineering mechanics & materials, Fluid mechanics, Thermodynamics and Machine design etc.

Although I was fully aware of increasing usage of computers in mechanical engineering, especially in the manufacturing field, (Computer aided manufacturing and Automation industry), it was through a program on television “Air Crash Investigation”,I discovered the role of computer technology in “Flight Simulation & Testing”; where, they stimulated a mechanical condition via computers. That’s when I realized the magnitude of application of computer science in solving mechanical problems and the idea hit me hard that how limitless it could be! It is my humble opinion that there is a vast scope to explore in the same. Furthermore, I owe it to my professor Dr. Nilesh Ghongde for his work “Analysis and Evaluation Limb Alignment in Total Knee Replacement”, where I observed the relative pattern of stress distribution in TKR and learnt the prediction of behavior of any medical case by creating its digital modeling, through integration of mathematics and computers. Also I had an opportunity to present mini project on “Analysis of truss element” by both analytical and computational methods.  I am proud of myself that I completed that project successfully.

In order to strengthen my command in this discipline, I further decided to train myself in the following; “Professional in Product Design and Analysis” certified course, 3D modelling using softwares like Catia, Pro-E and Auto Cad, analysis and simulation tools like Ansys Workbench and Ansys CFD, computational concepts of FEA, FDM, discretization and mathematical modeling on broad scale in Finite Element Analysis.

My internship was in Boiler industry, where I conducted the analysis of heat flow through heat exchangers.

 “Liquid weight assisted solar tracking system” the project in my final year of engineering bagged the 1st prize in “Green LTCOE project competition 2017” where I invented entirely new technique of solar tracking. Leading the group as a captain showcased my analytical skills and leadership qualities.

My short term goal is to garner as much knowledge as I can for the value addition until I join. I am also looking forward to an internship in CFD firm in the meantime. My long term plans would be, very excitedly, to work in a highly competitive Research & Development department of aerospace sector for research in stimulating high accuracy aerospace vehicle structures. This has been my dream since I remember. I aim to pursue a PhD program in the same. I would also love to optimize my solar project with an eye on entrepreneurial skills.

In my search for the best course in computational mechanics of structures and materials program, I found that the University of Stuttgart is the best university, suitable for my needs, requirements and my ambitions. The University of Stuttgart is a world reputed university for its research intensive education, outstanding research facilities and infrastructure. As everyone knows the country, Germany is synonymous with engineering; there is no doubt that this country is the most appropriate option for my masters. It would be an honor to be in Germany and learn engineering from the best in the world.

This course which I aim to enroll myself is entirely capable of making me, who I aspire to be. I, in all my sincerity, kindly look forward to be a part of the University of Stuttgart.
