Unit 1 Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training
The purpose of this unit is to enable you to understand the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training.
To achieve this unit you will need to understand the teaching role and responsibilities in education and training and the relationships between teachers and other professionals in this environment. You will also have to show that you understand ways of maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment. Whether or not you are already in a teaching role; it is recommended that you carry out research into the specialist area that you wish to teach in and where possible relate your answers to your chosen area.
You will do this by explaining:
•the teaching role and responsibilities in education and training
•ways to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment
•the relationships between teachers and other professionals in education and training.

By providing full and detailed answers to each task you will meet the assessment requirements for this unit
You may be assessed in any teaching and learning environment and/or use research on which to base your responses. However, all responses should be supported by referring to educational theory or theorists wherever possible.
Your tutor will assess the module and provide you with feedback on your progress and achievements, any areas that you need to develop to will also be identified.
Once you have completed all of the tasks your tutor will ‘sign-off’ this unit, you will then be able to commence the next unit.

I am tutor for Watercolour for Beginners course. It is Lifelong Learning program run by Council of the Isles of Scilly.
Most of students in my course have never had any practice with drawing or painting, so they are quite confident in saying they cannot paint at all.
My main role as a teacher is to convince learners they can paint, be more confident about medium, less self judging, I have to deliver subject in
interesting manner, engage learners and keep them motivated and eager to learn more.
My responsibilities: deliver subject, make sure learners fell confortable and safe strictly following safeguarding requirements, protect the interests of all learners and respect the trust, carry out administrative requirements, complying with relevant regulatory requirements, legislation, follow Council of the Isles of Silly policies and procedures, and codes of practice and record learners progress.

As a teacher I need to understand my own roles and responsibilities, with a necessity to understand aspects of legislation, regulation and codes of practice.

The Council of the Isles of Scilly usually determines code of practice in the sector I work within. Those are set of rules which outlines how any person who is representing Council are expected to conduct themselves.
